Knoxville is a city on the Tennessee River in eastern Tennessee. Downtown, the Market Square district has 19th-century buildings with shops and restaurants. The Museum of East Tennessee History has interactive exhibits plus regional art, textiles and Civil War artifacts. James White’s Fort, built by the Revolutionary War captain, includes the reconstructed 1786 log cabin that was Knoxville’s first permanent building.

  1. These comments are hilarious. So many triggered people….the same people who love putting down NY and Cali can't handle criticism of their own city/state. There is good/bad in all cities, it depends on priorities. Also, while $260k isn't bad compared to other places, it's bad when you look at the income levels. I think the comments confirm the 'unfriendly' piece too….

PS: has it ever ocurred to you just like these negatives may seem exagerrated or no big deal to those who live in Knoxville, the same could be said of NYC and Cali? Funny how that works..

  2. I was in Knoxville yesterday. Stopped through a bunch of bars in the "old city", everyone I talked to seemed friendly to me. Hell I got trashed at a bar and a guy I had been talking to for about and hour or so gave me a ride back to my hotel. Wish I had another day or two to explore. Saw some bums but they didn't come off aggressive to me, especially for what I'm used to dealing with in Baltimore, MD

  3. I hate knoxville. Can't wait to move away from here for good. People have MAJOR ATTITUDE PROBLEMS. People are dumber than a box of rocks, and they HAVE NO COMMON SENSE WHEN IT COMES TO DRIVING and they do not pay attention to their surroundings at all. I totally agree with this video 100%! Keep up the good work. The vols also suck!!!!!

  4. I’m in Knoxville writing this I’ve worked here all I can off and on over years from 5 hours away I love it here but they don’t love me I’ve been bullied a few too many times. The many laughing comments below thanking you for keeping us out proves a point. Not the friendliest. It’s a shame too because I’m so in love with this place I won’t give up.

  5. So most of these issues are much worse many other places. The weather is unpredictable, thats okay, there is lots of water. And if she thinks housing it expensive here she should go to So Cal and then report back. By the way, my neighbors all gave us vegetables from their gardens and we became fast friends and drinking biddies, so I would say most people are very genuine and friendly.

  6. I've lived in Knoxville all my life. I can't wait to get out of here. The "perks" are not worth it. The pollution is horrible. Allergies are brutal. There's constant noise and bad drivers. Lots of crime. My biggest issue is the medical care here is deplorable. Doctors are uneducated. All the rejects from up north that got in trouble end up here. The standards of care are drastically lowered here as far as the medical community goes. Everything she said in this video is true.

  7. Most ridiculous video ever made on YouTube hands down. I'm still trying to stop laughing at #2 reason it's the worst place to live…( the color orange ) seriously wtf lol….keep in mind if you are a no personality up tight hater, we don't want you here anyway. Duces.

  8. I agree… Knoxville pretty much sucks. Traffic on the interstate is awful. It's as though everyone who lives here taps into their inner NASCAR driver when they get on the interstate. I always take surface roads.
Housing has become outrageous. The prices keep going up. Rental units are in short supply. And I get it… If you have lived in CA–owned a home there–and decide that it's time to retire, you can sell your CA property for anywhere in the high 6-figures to lower 7-figures. You can buy a mansion in TN for the price of a mediocre 2 bedroom, 1-bath home in CA.
Crime is an issue because housing is an issue. People are forced to live on the streets or in shelters. They get involved in drugs, which often leads to crime. And there are no good free addiction treatment programs. Plus, as the downtown area becomes more gentrified, homeless people have been forced to move into nearby neighborhoods. Knoxville isn't serious about housing or substance abuse.
And OH MY GOODNESS!! You hit the nail on the head when it comes to UT football. It is everywhere! If you're not into sports, Knoxville doesn't have much to offer. It is definitely smothered by a massive orange blanket.
In terms of Knoxville being a friendly city, I have to kind of agree with you. Knoxville is very white and very "so-called" Christian. If you are a person of color, non-religious, gay, trans, etc., you are definitely not welcome here. It's still an "old-boys" town. It's extremely conservative.
I haven't found the air quality to be a huge issue. Yes, if you have allergies to pollen, you're going to have issues from time to time. But that's the case just about anywhere you live.
I live here. I feel stuck here. I will probably die here. Not everyone gets to choose where they live. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and deal with the cards you are dealt.

  9. Bro I live 10 min away and it’s literally amazing! Even the homeless people are pretty nice for the most part
10 traffic is not as bad as you say
9 it’s just because we have a lot of trees
8 basically nothing in the city
7 ya it’s Knoxville not Nashville
6 ya thats kinda true, but just be smart
5 pay is fine! It’s just like every other city
4 they are so kind and super sweet ( I literally got a bunch of tomatoes when I moved in)
3 this is very true ( but it’s all milder)
2 it’s our color, it called team spirit
1 cheaper than a lot of places

  10. Moved to Knoxville in 91 and it was a friendly tight-knit community. Plenty of stuff to do and fun and communal business areas open. It's a total crap show now and is getting worse quick. I'll be moving soon.

  11. These California comments always remind me of when everyone moved to California to make it "Big." Tourist are everywhere to see the "golden coast" locals can't even enjoy their own damn city. Beaches with blue waters, piers, six flags, Disneyland, universal studios, Hollywood Walk of Fame. Now everyone knows how Cali felt for decades. Then social media be letting out all the secrets! "Take these roads the locals take; park here; go visit this small hidden gem!" NO DON'T! GO AWAY! Yes, I feel ya'll but at least the place is emptying out… barely. Misery loves company!! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
For the love of god, please don't take this comment seriously.

  12. I have lived here for 40 years and in my opinion Knoxville is great.
The narrator should move to LA , Baltimore or Washington DC.
Don’t let the door hit cha where the good Lord split cha….

  13. Knoxville, Meth capitol of the USA 5 years running now. 23% of UT graduates cannot read or write. Rape is actually an undergraduate class you can take at UT. 31% of all married couples are interrelated at the cousin level or closer. That throw up orange color you see EVERYWHERE.

  14. Some of the things she said about kville is true. The people here are cliquey. It's a good thing kville isn't Nashville. Nville is overrated overpriced .too many people from other states moving to tn is tn biggest problem and low life slum lords,it's not the people that live here or the floods but Knoxville isn't the friendliest city

  15. I may be a little biased but I've lived here in knoxville my whole life almost everything you said is either untrue or exaggerated stuff like crim, and traffic may be high but not as high as your saying also people here are extremely friendly there are some unkind people here and there but mainly everyone here is very friendly
