Politicians. Local & Federal, Celebrated The Rocky Mountain Greenway Trail Set To Traverse On Or Near The Rocky Flats Nuclear Waste Superfund Site.
The Event Was Not Publicized To Allegedly Prevent Environmental Activists From Publicly Questioning The Logic Of The Politicians To Connect 2 Superfund Sites, At Least One Of Which, Presents An Ongoing Danger To Public Health Because Radioactive, Toxic, & Hazardous Wastes Are Capable Of Being Inhaled, Ingested, Or Absorbed, Including Deadly Plutonium-239.
According to court records, the following radioactive and nonradioactive hazardous wastes are buried on or near Rocky Flats:
“Plutonium (Pu), Americium (Am), Uranium (U), Thorium (Th), Tritium (H3), Curium (Cm), Neptunium (Np), Polonium (Po). Non-radioactive materials of concern: Beryllium(Be), Cadmium (Cd), Hexavalant Chromic Acid, Carbon Tetrachloride, PCBs, Nickel Carbonyl, Cyanide, Nitric Acid, Sulfuric Acid, and Hydrochlorides. In one fire in 1969, about One (1) ton of Pu burned, a person who inhales 1/1000th of an ounce (1 microgram) would be expected to die within weeks and lung cancer doses are calculated in billionths of grams. Americium is separated from Pu at Rocky Flats, it is even more radioactive than Pu, and moves easily through the food chain. From 1967 to 1976 an average of 1410 grams of Am has been shipped from Rocky Flats each year.”
“Enriched Uranium (EU) has been used at RF for making bomb parts, probably on a scale comparable to Pu until 1965. Hundreds of tons of Depleted Uranium (DU) have been used. Tens of tons of normal uranium have also been present and presumably used at RF. Some bomb parts have been made of the radioactive U-233 also. All forms of uranium are radioactive.”
